You belief that something else is possible for you.
You know you can do something about this.
You tried to do something about this.
But it did not produce the change you hoped for.
We can easily feel less worthy, if we are not getting results after having invested serious time, attention and money. There is no need for that: Doing what seems obvious to us is reasonable.
Maybe the missing answer is not another option to try, but something more specific to you and this situation?
Why you are not letting it be
It is okay to accept something as is, if we find out it is harder to change then expected.
But you’re still here. Maybe because:
The desired change still matters. You want your relationship, so you put an effort. You like what you do for work, so you try to find a way that works for you. We do not choose what we want - nor what we don’t.
Your being stuck has costs. Energy being expended on attempts to change. Attention being invested to find some way forward. And opportunities lost because […] change actually comes about.
If something has kept mattering to you for this long, it is worth taking seriously before deciding to let it go.
The missing piece: A viable movement for you
When we feel stuck, it is often not because we have no ideas. It is because the options we can see do not really work for us.
What we are looking for instead is a way forward you are more likely to be genuinely okay with afterwards. Even when the experience itself was difficult.
For such movements, two qualities matter:
Self-authored movements
We want to move toward what you actually want — not what you think you should want, and not at the expense of other things that matter to you.
The clearer you get about what you actually want, the better your chances of getting more of it into your life.Non-coercive movements
Change often comes with pressure to be more assertive, more disciplined, more accepting, less afraid, or simply different. But if that requires pushing important parts of yourself aside, it tends to come at a cost.
We look for a way forward you can just do — without having to make yourself act differently.
The goal is not the perfect move. It is to get clear enough about what matters to you and how you want to handle the situation that you can move forward without needing to know exactly how it will turn out.
